Creative impact - insights from Marcus Westbury

Marcus Westbury has brought into being much creative and social impact.

He is the CEO of the new Contemporary Arts Precincts, and the Founder of Renew Newcastle and Renew Australia, which catalyse community renewal and economic development by finding short-term creative uses for empty spaces. Marcus is also a broadcaster, writer, media maker and festival director.

I relished reading Creating Cities recently, which describes how we can “create opportunities and incubate possibilities” to enrich our towns and cities with those who live there.

It was inspiring to speak with Marcus about his experiences and new role in fostering creative enterprise and innovative communities. He shares his views on the significance of failure and learning by doing, about creativity and social impact, and for getting started and being resilient in this dynamic field.

Huge thanks to Marcus for this inspiring interview. And here's to progressing models of creative social enterprise, renewing our communities, and generating rich cultural possibilities for us to thrive!
